Nancy O'Connor is a music director, arranger, pianist, composer, singer and voice over artist. Nancy is the Founding Music Director of At Rise Productions, a Central New York-based theater company dedicated to providing teenagers the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a theatrical production. She has served as Music Director for several At Rise musicals, including Band Geeks (Spring 2019) and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Spring 2018). Band Geeks was nominated for five SALT (Syracuse Area Live Theater) awards including Musical of the Year and Best Musical Director.
As a songwriter, Nancy primarily writes musical theater-style music. She has co-written two cabarets of original musical theater and released several songs on Spotify and other streaming services with lyricist Jared Dunn, including “Which Way to Neverland?” which was nominated for a Syracuse Area Music (SAMMY) Award, and was chosen for Berklee’s musical theater writing contest, Curtain Up, for which it will be orchestrated and performed in the Berklee Performance Center.
Nancy is a Sophomore at Berklee College College of Music, where she is studying Contemporary Writing and Production with minors in Conducting and Musical Theatre Writing. Nancy currently works as the in-house arranger and an accompanist for the Boston Children's Chorus and this semester will be the Music Director for Berklee’s Bechdel Theater Group, a student-run group that focuses on producing shows that feature women and queer actors and characters.
Nancy is originally from Syracuse, NY where she was involved in community theater at CNY Playhouse, The Redhouse, Rarely Done Productions, and Appleseed Productions.
